WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP REDUCE JAPAN’S DISASTER?
On March 12, 2011 Tsunami and earthquake of 8.9 magnitude hit Fukushima, Japan. There were lots of radiation leakages which killed thousands of people. Houses and cars were flooded and were moving with the water. This was the largest nuclear disaster in the world history. The radioactive chemical was released from the nuclear power station due to overheating and was spread about 20km from the station. The workers suffered from injuries by the radiations in fact lot of them were killed. The government estimated the amount of radiation that was released in the atmosphere which was one-tenth of radiation.
In order to help Japan relive from the disaster the world raised about $8,820,962 out of the goal of $9,500,000. The Red Cross team in Japan had more than 130,000 blankets and 30,000 emergency relief kits and were provided to all the people in Japan who were wounded. 896 medical teams treaded about 87,000 patients. 50,000 Japanese troops were sent to recover. The U.K. organization came up with 18 international online fundraisers. Google provided Japan a person finder tool which can locate the victim’s and families members after the relief. Salvation Armey were working in Tokyo to provide shelter to commuters. The economy of Japan was just getting worst each day after the disaster. Hundreds of factories were shut down all over Japan and Car factories like Honda and Toyota were shut down. Out of three Honda factories two were closed out due to damages. A Toyota factory with 420,000 cars was shut down because is could’ve damaged the whole factory and all the cars. 2 million homes were estimated without electricity and about 1.4 million houses were without running water.
Doctors were using twitter and were saying how to treat patients by giving certain medical drugs. People were just spreading massages on twitter how to help and donating money on sites. Some were selling bracelets to fundraise on twitter and some were posting websites to donate for the relief. What I would do to help relive Japan? I would make flyers on the Japan disaster and go door to door to fundraise. I would also make my mom make bracelets and would sell it at school or to friends. All the money I get would be donated using a website of Red Cross. Imagine if we were in this position in Japan, How would it feel to be a homeless, how would it feel if we would to loose our family members?
